Who are the Friends of Beverley Art Gallery?
The aim of The Friends is to encourage more people to enjoy Art in all its forms through membership and participation in the group and its activities. The Friends support the curators and staff at the Gallery in many ways. Funds raised through membership subscriptions, donations and events help to support exhibitions and related events and contribute towards the conservation of paintings and their frames. The funds have also helped purchase additions to the collection. You can help make a real difference to the gallery!

Artists Evening of Appreciation by Fred Elwell
The Friends of Beverley Art Gallery are providing vital support for the gallery's activities. In 2019, the Friends were approached by the gallery curator with a unique opportunity to purchase a rare painting by Fred Elwell. The Friends decided to support the purchase of this outstanding work from 1894, a sketch from 'behind the scenes' of an artist's life in a Parisian studio. The Friends were invited to a special ceremony welcoming the artwork into the collection. 'Artists Evening of Appreciation' by Fred Elwell is now on display in the beautiful Edwardian gallery space.
